Fairytale Beginnings by Holly Martin Review

Love is an open door… except when it keeps slamming in your face

Hopeless romantic Milly Rose has had her fair share of heartbreak. Obsessed with all things Disney, she refuses to give up on finding her Prince Charming – he’s out there somewhere, isn’t he?

When Milly is given a job to investigate the origins of a historical building in the village of Clover’s Rest, she’s not sure what to expect. What she discovers takes her breath away – a beautiful real life Cinderella castle, complete with turrets, a magnificent drawbridge AND a very handsome owner…Cameron Heartstone.

As Milly and Cameron begin to unearth the secrets of Clover Castle, they can’t ignore the intense chemistry building between them. But they’ve both been hurt badly before. Can they take a big leap of faith and find their own happily-ever-after?

As a die-hard fan of all things Disney, fairytales and Holly Martin, I was really excited for this book. And I was very right to be! This book is a slice of fairytale heaven.

The main character Milly is so easy to relate to, right from the very start when she’s trying to get her ancient car Dick up a steep cliff road. I was immediately drawn to her and was intrigued to see where the story was going to take me.

That place turns out to be Clover Castle, a real-life fairytale castle that any wannabe princess would be happy to live in. Its owner Cameron Heartstone is handsome and enigmatic; will he turn out to be the Prince Charming Milly has been looking for? That would be telling…

I really enjoyed this book. It follows a classic fairytale format and reminded me of my favourite Disney film, Beauty and the Beast. I loved Milly and Cameron’s blossoming relationship and was thoroughly intrigued by the secrets that Clover Castle held. Holly Martin has done a really good job of creating a romantic, engaging story. A must for all Disney fans!
